The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is an important part of Cauvery College of Pharmacy. The department is responsible for imparting studies in the field of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry for D.Pharm and B.Pharm students.

The department offers excellent infrastructure with sophisticated equipment, well-equipped laboratories, and access to knowledge through a vast collection of relevant books and journals.

“Better drugs for better therapy” has always been the motto of medicinal chemists. Keeping this in mind, our department acts as a hub for new drug discovery by focusing on organic molecules, using knowledge from both synthetic and natural chemistry, along with computational chemistry, to discover and develop new therapeutic agents.

Research Activities

The department is actively engaged in research activities such as phytochemical studies, which include isolation, identification, characterization, purification, and standardization of various plant products using advanced chromatographic techniques.

Various chemical entities synthesized and isolated from natural sources are screened for pharmacological activities such as anticancer, antioxidant, anxiolytic, chemopreventive, and anti-inflammatory effects.
